Elves are a race of shorter humanoids. They are known for their skill in magic and their exceptionally long lifespans. They, physically, manage to stay in remarkably perfect condition throughout their lives. Many say that their lifespans and health are attributed to magic spells that they know that they have not shared with the rest of the world. Elves are peaceful with all other societies willing to be peaceful with them. They also tend to be very reclusive. They will help other societies and deal with traders if the need arises but will mostly keep to themselves.
Elves live in cities in or near a forest. Some elves will build their homes on the ground, others will build them in the trees. But, always, the homes will be beautiful and richly furnished.

(I would have used this definition more in the game, but the definition that the gaming world has adopted for them seems much more enjoyable and better for game play.)
